The Children's Society

The Children's Society is the Church of England's charity concerned with the needs of children and young people, particularly those in need or distress.  St Gabriel's, along with many other churches, takes the opportunity to support them at our Christingle Service, which takes place close to Christmas.  As we give thanks and enjoy the festive season, we remember the needs of those who may lack the material things or the emotional support and love that we can rely on.

Christian Aid

Christian Aid week in May each year provides a focus for St Gabriel's to fund-raise in a concerted way for Christian Aid whose work in the name of Christ among the most impoverished is something that we wholeheartedly support.  We do this work together with Aldersbrook Baptist Church delivering and collecting envelopes door-to-door and this year raised over £2800.

Fair Trade

At St Gabriel's we recognise the inequalities in our world between those who produce many of the items that we in the richer developing world consume. For that reason as a church we are committed to supporting Fair Trade to guarantee at least a certain level of income for producers.  It won't solve all of the problems, but it will make a difference.  We serve fairly traded tea and coffee after our services and for visitors who drop in when the church is open.  We also run a Traidcraft stall after church regularly.  If you'd like to help make this aspect of church life even stronger, please ask to get involved!
